A certificate of temporary residence is issued at the request of an EU citizen who intends to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 3 months. Temporary residence is not a legal requirement for EU nationals to stay in the Czech Republic, but it will make your life considerably easier if you decide to live here. This document is essential for the purpose of registering an automobile, applying for a loan or mortgage; or securing a credit card, phone or satellite contract.

Documents required for the temporary residence are:

  • Passport or ID card
  • Document confirming the purpose of stay
  • One passport sized photo
  • Proof of health insurance
  • Proof of accommodation

EU citizens’ family members are family members of citizens of the above-listed countries, such as husband, wife or civil partner, children, parents, grandparents or any other family members specified by law.
